The Bo-Keys are a new old band, formed in 1998 by Memphis musician Scott Bomar who was asked to assemble a backup band for former Stax Records artist Sir Mack Rice.  Bomar then went to the source and enlisted former Stax session musicians Skip Pitts, Howard Grimes, and Ben Cauley.  Skip Pitts is perhaps best known for creating the distinctive "wah wah" guitar sound for the title track of Isaac Hayes' record "Shaft".       <br />

Coffey is a noted guitar player from Michigan, known for his work as a member of the "Funk Brothers" studio band playing on numerous hits for Motown Records.  Coffey also recorded his own gold record selling instrumental "Scorpio", which led him to perform on the television show "Soul Train" in 1972, the first white musician to do so.    <br />

The Ponderosa Stomp is an annual music festival held in New Orleans since 2002 that celebrates the uncelebrated names in American musical history.  The festival spotlights musicians who have contributed to the American roots musical canon in various genres, from rockabilly to soul to rock and roll to jazz to experimental.  For two nights of the year these mostly forgotten names perform to an audience of aficionados whose memory has not faded and turn back the clock with blistering performances of the hits that did or (in the case of the regional musicians that plugged away unknown to the world at large, as well as those whose songs were recorded to acclaim by other musicians) did not make them famous.
